Jamaican striker Colin Anderson joins Iraqi club Erbil SC in summer transfer

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Colin Anderson, a striker for Jamaica’s national football team, is preparing for a transfer to Iraqi First Division side Erbil SC from Cavalier Soccer Club.

The 25-year-old forward, who previously had a loan spell with Bregalnica Štip in North Macedonia’s First Division, is expected to bring his attacking prowess to his new club after impressing in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL).

Anderson’s stint in North Macedonia saw him struggle to find form, scoring just three goals in 28 appearances, as Bregalnica Štip faced relegation to the Second Division. However, his domestic form has been much stronger, as he led Cavalier SC to the JPL finals in 2022 and scored 29 goals in 66 appearances for the club.

Erbil SC, which finished 14th in the 20-team Iraqi league last season with a record of nine wins, 14 draws, and 15 losses, will be hoping that Anderson’s arrival will bolster their attack and improve their standing in the upcoming season. The Jamaican striker will join an international roster that includes Brazilian defender Helio, Colombian forward Luis Hinestrova, Senegalese midfielder Khalifa Sow, and Malian defender Adama Ballo.

Anderson, who previously played for Arnett Gardens FC and has earned two caps for the Reggae Boyz, is eager to make an impact in Iraq and help elevate Erbil SC’s performance in the highly competitive league.

The move to the Iraqi First Division presents a new opportunity for Anderson to showcase his talent on an international stage and further his footballing career.
