Mental Health Counselor Arrested for Human Trafficking in Miami

MIAMI-DADE – A Mental Health Counselor and another man had been arrested in Miami for human trafficking involving a minor. The Miami-Dade Police Department’s (MDPD) Organized Crime Bureau, Human Trafficking Squad says the arrested the two following an operation on August 13th.

According to investigators, on Sunday, August 18th, 2024, MDPD Kendal District Officers responded to a hotel located at 7600 SW 88 Street in reference to a dispute. Further investigation revealed that on August 13th, 2024, the victim, who is a 15-year-old female was walking her dog in the pool area of the hotel. She was approached by a female subject who be-friended her by gaining her trust as she identified herself as a Psychologist. The victim disclosed to investigators that the subject offered her drugs, alcohol, and asked her to record sexual acts. The victim said she was at one point was forced to engage in sexual acts with a male.

The Mental Health Counselor identified as Maria Ximena Duarte, and the male subject as Jason Mojica. They have been arrested, and charged with several offences including Human Trafficking, Sexual Battery, L&L Exhibition on Child, Lewd Lascivious Battery, Other Sex Acts and Custody Interference.

The investigation continues.
