The Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) was recently recognized as the 2024 Public Agency of the Year. DTPW was awarded by the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) at its annual National Meeting and Training Conference in Houston, marking the first time DTPW has received this award.
The COMTO Miami Chapter, composed of County employees from DTPW, MIA, PortMiami, Solid Waste, other departments, agencies and partners, also received the Harold B. Williams Best Membership Recruitment/Retention Activities award.
“I am immensely proud of our dedicated transit employees who consistently strive to deliver excellence every day with a smile,” said Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “They are true unsung heroes, playing a pivotal role in our residents’ daily lives. This recognition is a testament to their commitment not only to ensuring efficient transportation but also enhancing the quality of life in our community.”
“We are honored by this distinction from COMTO, such an important organization that not only coordinates and represents but advocates for transportation professionals and their agencies across the nation,” added Eulois Cleckley, the Director and CEO of DTPW and past national president of COMTO. “This award means that we are yet another step closer to being the world’s best provider of transportation options, delivering clean, safe, reliable and connected transportation and mobility services.”
The mission of COMTO is to ensure a level playing field and maximum participation in the transportation industry for minority individuals, businesses and communities of color through advocacy, information sharing, training, education and professional development.
