Rotherham United is thrilled to announce the signing of prolific striker Jonson Clarke-Harris, who will return to AESSEAL New York Stadium following the expiration of his contract at Peterborough United. The move is pending ratification from the FA and EFL.
Clarke-Harris, 29, has signed a two-year contract, reuniting with manager Steve Evans, who originally brought him to Rotherham as the club’s record signing for the 2014/15 Sky Bet Championship campaign from Oldham Athletic. Evans moved swiftly to secure his first summer signing after issuing the 2023/24 retained list, quickly concluding talks with the highly sought-after forward.
During his previous stint at AESSEAL New York Stadium, Clarke-Harris scored 10 goals, including a memorable long-range strike against Leeds United in October 2014, marking his first goal for the Millers.
Clarke-Harris joined Bristol Rovers in January 2019
After a period with Coventry City, Clarke-Harris joined Bristol Rovers in January 2019, where he began to consistently find the net, scoring 26 times in 51 appearances across all competitions. His impressive form caught the attention of Peterborough United, who signed him in the summer of 2020. Clarke-Harris continued his goal-scoring exploits at London Road, netting 33 times in 49 appearances in his first season, leading his team to promotion and securing the Sky Bet League One Golden Boot.
In the second tier, Clarke-Harris scored 12 goals before reclaiming the League One Golden Boot the following year with 29 goals in 54 games across all competitions. Known for his aerial dominance and clinical finishing inside the penalty box, Clarke-Harris departs Peterborough as the club’s fifth all-time top scorer in Football League history, with 78 goals in 166 appearances.
