The entry lists for the Marrakech Diamond League, scheduled for Saturday, May 18, have been released, showcasing an impressive array of talent led by 200 meters World Champion Shericka Jackson.
The Jamaican sprint sensation is set to make her seasonal debut over the distance, bringing her explosive speed and world-class credentials to the Moroccan track. Fans and competitors eagerly await Jackson’s performance as she aims to set the tone for the season ahead.
In the women’s 200 meters, Jackson will face a competitive field, including Switzerland’s Mujinga Kambundji, Italy’s Dalia Kaddari, and Denmark’s Ida Karstoft. This race promises to be a highlight, with Jackson’s formidable presence adding to the anticipation.
Caribbean excellence on display
Joining Jackson in representing the Caribbean are several top-tier athletes. In the men’s 100 meters, Jamaica’s Yohan Blake, Julian Forte, and Rohan Watson will compete against a formidable field, including Canada’s Andre De Grasse and the USA’s Pjai Austin and Brandon Hicklin. Blake, with a personal best of 9.69 seconds, remains a contender for Olympic glory, while Forte and Watson aim to make significant impacts.
The women’s 400 meters hurdles will see a strong Jamaican presence with Rushell Clayton, Janieve Russell, and Shiann Salmon all set to compete. Adding to the excitement, the men’s triple jump will see Cuba’s Lázaro Martínez competing against world-class athletes like Portugal’s Pedro Pichardo and Burkina Faso’s Hugues Fabrice Zango. Martínez, with a season-best of 17.51 meters, is poised to challenge for top honors.
