Jamaica’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Hon. Dr. Horace Chang, affirmed the government’s steadfast dedication to fortifying security protocols to cultivate a safe atmosphere for real estate ventures in Jamaica.
Speaking at the Realtors Association of Jamaica’s International Real Estate Conference and Homeowners’ Expo 2024, convened at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rose Hall, St. James, Dr. Chang emphasized the imperative of conducting real estate transactions within secure environments conducive to preserving and augmenting investments.
Government’s security commitment
Dr. Chang underscored the government’s acknowledgment of the pivotal role played by real estate investments in national progress.
He highlighted substantial allocations towards fortifying security frameworks to safeguard such developments.
Noteworthy efforts include bolstering police resources and personnel, with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) now boasting a complement of 14,200 officers, a significant increase from previous levels.

Emphasizing the government’s proactive stance towards facilitating investment, Dr. Chang conveyed intentions to institute supportive regulatory structures to enable unhindered investment opportunities.

Notably, the recent appointment of Commissioner of Police, Dr. Kevin Blake, heralds a phase of transformative reforms within the police force.
