In the West Indies Championship match against Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) on Saturday, spinners Chaim Holder and Jomel Warrican played pivotal roles in guiding Barbados Pride to a convincing nine-wicket win on the final day of the match in Jamaica.
Barbados Pride’s bowlers, led by Holder and Warrican, put in a stellar performance to dismiss CCC for 193 runs in their second innings. Holder claimed a five-wicket haul, picking up five wickets for 69 runs, while Warrican contributed with three crucial wickets for just 16 runs.
Resuming the day’s play at 96 for two, CCC faltered against the spin duo of Holder and Warrican. Despite a resilient innings from Test stroke-maker Shamarh Brooks (72) and debutant Demario Richards (47), CCC failed to build substantial partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals.
Quick chase for Barbados Pride
Set a target of 35 runs for victory, Barbados Pride cruised to their target in just 28 balls, showcasing their dominance in the match. Zachary McCaskie played a quickfire unbeaten knock of 28 runs off just 14 balls, leading Barbados Pride to a comprehensive victory.
In another match, the West Indies Academy pulled off a stunning five-wicket win against Leeward Islands Hurricanes, with Joshua James playing a pivotal role in the run chase. James smashed an unbeaten 41 off just 21 balls, including two fours and five sixes, to guide his team to victory.
Kadeem Alleyne’s explosive batting at the top of the order set the tone for the West Indies Academy’s chase. Alleyne scored a brisk 57 runs off just 20 balls, providing early momentum to his team’s innings.
No-Result in Guyana Harpy Eagles vs. T&T Red Force match
The match between Guyana Harpy Eagles and T&T Red Force ended in a no-result due to persistent wet conditions, which prevented any play for three consecutive days. Red Force had reached 215 for four in their first innings, with Jason Mohammed scoring an unbeaten century.
Overall, it was a dominant performance by Barbados Pride and the West Indies Academy in their respective matches, while weather played spoilsport in the encounter between Guyana Harpy Eagles and T&T Red Force.
