The match, held at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina, on Monday night, showcased two undefeated teams, but it was FSU that emerged as the champions.

Brown’s impressive performance included goals in the 30th and 62nd minutes, cementing her legacy as a two-time national champion during her four-year stint with FSU. She had previously played a crucial role in FSU’s 2021 triumph.

Other goal-scorers for FSU included Jordynn Dudley (29th minute), Beata Olsson (59th minute), and Onyi Echegini (85th minute), with FSU’s top-ranked team delivering a dominant performance that dismantled what was considered the NCAA’s strongest defense. Stanford managed to score a consolation goal through Maya Doms in the 52nd minute.

Tentative start for both teams

The match started tentatively for both teams, but FSU took control and scored two quick goals within 29 seconds to end the first half with a lead. Dudley converted a penalty, and shortly after, Brown displayed her speed and composure to score on the break.

Stanford struggled to handle FSU’s midfield pressure, but they managed to pull one goal back when Maya Doms unleashed a powerful effort seven minutes into the second half. However, FSU quickly re-established their two-goal cushion as Olsson found the back of the net just before the hour mark and later set up Brown for her second goal.

Echegini’s goal further solidified FSU’s lead and sealed the victory, leaving Stanford’s defense helpless in their pursuit of the championship.
