Kayaun Kendrick Whitfield, a 38-year-old security guard employed at the high school, was taken into custody on Thursday, facing charges that include offenses against students by authority figures, false imprisonment, and child neglect, as outlined in an arrest report.

According to the report, the alleged incident occurred when a juvenile student requested a ride home and was picked up by the 38-year-old Whitfield.

Details of the incident

According to the report, Whitfield made an unexpected stop at a liquor store, where he purchased vodka and orange juice and offered the student a drink but he declined.

It is further reported that they then went to a restaurant and picked up food before stopping at an ATM, then drove to a parking lot at Traz Powell Stadium on Northwest 27th Avenue, the report said.

Reports are that Whitfield told the student to get in the back seat and when they were in the back, Whitfield handed the teen a $100 bill.

According to the report the student “questioned why he was giving him a $100 bill and then saw [Whitfield] then raise one leg and appeared to be trying to mount on top of him.”

Reports further reveal that the student ran out of the vehicle and got in the driver’s seat, then drove to his home.

The report stated that when they arrived at the student’s home, the student said Whitfield locked the car doors and refused to let him out, while repeatedly asking if the student was going to tell his mother what happened.

According to the report, the student said he was eventually able to roll down a window and open the car door from the outside so he could get out and run home.

The student later told investigators that Whitfield “was trying to engage him into having sexual intercourse with him in the backseat of the vehicle,” the report said.

The $100 bill, it was alleged, was offered as hush money to ensure silence about the incident.

Unwanted contact and continued harassment

Even after the initial incident, the student claimed to have received multiple phone calls from Whitfield.

This relentless pursuit prompted the student to block Whitfield’s number, hoping to put an end to the harassment.

The student further reported that Whitfield came to his classroom and tried to talk to him outside.

The student then reported Whitfield’s actions to his parents.

Whitfield’s arrest

The arrest report emphasizes that Whitfield knowingly exploited his position as a school authority figure to engage in a romantic relationship with the student.

He further failed in his duty of care and professional supervision by allowing the underage student to drive and offering alcoholic beverages.

Whitfield was arrested and subsequently booked into jail.

According to records, his bond has been set at $17,500.
