The Jamaican police are investigating the circumstances that led to the drowning of 15-year-old Campion College fifth-form student Jordan Gibson on Thursday.
According to police reports, the student attended a water polo tryouts about 4 o’clock at his high school on Thursday when he started experiencing difficulties in the pool.
An ambulance was then dispatched, and Gibson was taken to the hospital.
Attempts to save him were made; however, they were proved futile.
In a media release on Friday, the school said: “We grieve with his family, friends, and all who feel his loss.”
“We pray for God’s mercy and comfort for his parents and family. May his soul rest in peace,” the release added.
A candle was lit in Gibson’s honor who was characterized as jovial and always had a story to tell.
Guidance counselors from various Corporate Area high schools were willing to help with grief counseling for students and staff of the St Andrew based secondary school, as they tried to console each another in their collective sorrow.
