Review: Hideaway at Royalton Blue Waters, Jamaica

Formerly Royalton White Sands, the property underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation last year and was rebranded as part of the Autograph Collection. What was once a family getaway is now an adult playground, with luxurious rooms and modern decor, gourmet dining, exhilarating water sports, and captivating nightly entertainment.

The property

Upon arriving on the property, guests are greeted by a stunning display of hanging feather fixtures, soft and puffy-fabric-looking lighting elements, and meticulously crafted furniture in the main lobby, designed with shades of white, blue, and brown.

The atmosphere is one of opulence and style, setting the stage for an extraordinary experience. Here, butlers and bellmen eagerly await the arrival of guests, adding a touch of personalized luxury to the already exquisite surroundings.

The Hideaway at Royalton Blue Waters boasts a total of 352 rooms, with a select number falling within the prestigious Diamond Club category. Diamond Club accommodations go above and beyond, featuring exclusive perks such as butler service, access to a private jacuzzi pool and beach areas, and a dedicated lounge for an added touch of luxury.

Indulge in a culinary adventure with a choice of 11 bars and 12 restaurants. Among them, Gourmet Marché, the buffet restaurant, takes center stage with a vast selection of fresh, local, and international flavors. The diverse dining options also include establishments showcasing Jamaican, Italian, Japanese, Indian, and Tex-Mex cuisine.

For relaxation and rejuvenation, the resort offers an on-site spa providing luxurious treatments and services. Stay active at the fitness center or unwind by the beach or the main pool, creating a perfect balance of leisure and wellness.

The rooms

Hideaway rooms and suites epitomize contemporary elegance with their modern and minimalist design.

With a white, grey, and brown color palette, the luxury accommodations exude a clean and uncluttered aesthetic, featuring sleek decor that creates a sense of calm and sophistication. The furnishings are characterized by simplicity, showcasing functionality without unnecessary embellishments. Regular luxury rooms have either garden or ocean views. All rooms have a balcony or terrace, a mini-bar stocked with beers and drinks, a safe, cable TV, plus other amenities like a steamer, in-suite coffee/tea maker, hair dryer, etc.

The upgraded Diamond Club rooms suites are more spacious, and some have a semi-private pool or a swim-out terrace. All Diamond Club rooms come with butler service. Diamond Club members also get an array of snacks and a bottle of any available premium liquor. Room service is also included in the stay.

During the day, the main pool becomes the epicenter of entertainment. The resident DJ creates a lively atmosphere with the latest music across various genres for a foam party that energizes guests and surroundings for hours.

During dinner, the atmosphere becomes serene, but as night descends, a different DJ takes the stage to bring the property back to life. They set up in an open area, where both the DJ and guests groove to the latest dance routines, engage in karaoke, and join in on sing-alongs. 

Special weekly shows add a touch of excitement to the mix, featuring dazzling performances like Michael Jackson tributes and a lively White Party.

For sports enthusiasts, the hotel boasts a vibrant sports bar equipped with everything you need to keep up with the latest games. Engage in friendly competition with pool tables, foosball, and more on the outdoor patio. As the night progresses, the sports bar seamlessly transforms into a lively club, offering a dynamic nightlife experience.

Non-motorized watersports such as snorkeling, kayaking, and an introductory scuba diving lesson, are also available.
