Martinique deepened its strategic partnership with American Airlines last month during “Threads of Influence,” a lively celebration of Caribbean-American Heritage Month held at the airline’s headquarters in Dallas-Fort Worth.
Organized by American Airlines’ Caribbean Employee Business Resource Group, the event brought together top tourism officials, airline executives, and employees to highlight the deep cultural and economic connections between the Caribbean and the United States.
Muriel Wiltord, Director of the Americas for the Martinique Tourism Authority, joined tourism leaders from The Bahamas, Belize, and Jamaica in presenting their destinations’ unique offerings. Speaking on behalf of the French Caribbean island, Wiltord spotlighted Martinique’s accessibility, robust health care system, safety, and its trio of UNESCO recognitions. She encouraged attendees to “make it your own,” underscoring Martinique’s distinct appeal within the region.
The event also featured a high-level panel discussion on the future of Caribbean tourism. Participants included Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Secretary-General Dona Regis-Prosper and senior American Airlines executives: Brian Znotins, Senior Vice President of Network Planning; Ralph Lopez Massas, Senior Vice President of Charlotte Operations; and José Freig, Vice President of International Operations. The panel emphasized the importance of data-driven strategies, sustainable tourism, and strategic airline-destination partnerships.
Martinique’s presence at the event reaffirmed its close ties with American Airlines, which offers direct service from Miami — a key U.S. gateway. The collaboration highlights the vital role of airlift in supporting the island’s tourism growth and enhancing connectivity across the Caribbean.
Participation in the event forms part of Martinique’s broader marketing strategy to strengthen its brand visibility in priority markets and solidify institutional relationships. Engaging directly with airline decision-makers and frontline staff is central to the island’s efforts to promote its tourism product, ensure the longevity of its flight routes, and reinforce its status as a standout Caribbean destination.
The celebration also underscored the rising influence of Caribbean culture and the importance of the region’s diaspora in the U.S., while showcasing American Airlines’ long-standing commitment to the Caribbean.
