Set along a pristine coastline where dense rainforest meets white-sand beaches, the 500-room resort offers guests a secluded escape and a deep connection to one of the Caribbean’s most unspoiled natural settings.

“We’ve created Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa to be more than an indulgent escape – it’s a celebration of romance, wellbeing, and the unique spirit of Playa Esmeralda,” said Angel Medina, general manager of the resort. “Every detail, from the design of our suites to textures, colours, and curated experiences throughout the property, is inspired by the richness of this region.”

Each suite features a private terrace or balcony, many with ocean views and swim-out access. Preferred Club accommodations offer added luxuries such as butler service, pillow menus, upgraded minibars, and access to exclusive pools and beach areas. The Preferred Club Presidential Suite includes a private kitchen and a jet pool terrace overlooking the ocean.

Guests can dine at 11 restaurants and seven bars, including the signature Doña Altagracia, which showcases elevated Dominican cuisine. Standout dishes include risotto with stewed goat and mofongo, curated by Executive Chef Carlos Quijano.

Wellness is also a core focus. The Secrets Spa offers hydrotherapy, saunas, plunge pools, and treatments using locally sourced ingredients like coconut powder and aloe vera. Additional amenities include a full-service salon, bridal suite, and a Master Spa Cabin with a private treatment terrace.

For active travelers, the resort features a fitness center, tennis and volleyball courts, water sports, kayaking, and scuba lessons. Cultural and nature-based excursions are also available, including hikes to Salto La Jalda waterfall, mangrove kayaking in Los Haitises National Park, and seasonal whale watching. The resort is also involved in local conservation efforts through a partnership with Promiches, supporting initiatives like protected sea turtle nesting on its beachfront.

Secrets Playa Esmeralda also caters to groups and special events with over 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including 11 venues, a 1,440-seat ballroom, and beachfront wedding locations. Dedicated planners are available to coordinate destination weddings, executive retreats, and private celebrations.

The property shares a Public Square with the soon-to-open Dreams Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa, a family-friendly resort scheduled to debut on September 1, 2025. Guests of both resorts will enjoy access to each other’s amenities, including dining, shopping, and entertainment venues.
