Notably, batters Aaliyah Alleyne and Qiana Joseph soared in the standings, reflecting their crucial contributions on the field.

Alleyne leapt from 91st to 76th place, energized by a brisk 44 runs off 46 deliveries, demonstrating both flair and resilience at the crease. Meanwhile, Joseph advanced from 104th to 82nd after anchoring the innings with a steady and composed 62 from 74 balls, providing stability and grit during challenging moments.

Captain Matthews holds ground among the elite

Leading the charge for the West Indies is captain Hayley Matthews, who remains firmly entrenched among the world’s best, holding her spot at fourth in the batters’ rankings. Her steady presence and consistent performance continue to establish her as a cornerstone of the team’s success.

Matthews’ influence extends beyond batting. In the bowling rankings, while England’s Sophie Ecclestone maintained her top position and the top six remained unchanged, Matthews’ all-round excellence propelled her upward from ninth to seventh place after a disciplined and economical spell of 2 for 49 in the opening match of the series.

Recognition for excellence: Matthews shortlisted for ICC Player of the Month

The Barbadian captain’s stellar performances have earned her a nomination for the prestigious ICC Player of the Month award. Matthews is in elite company alongside South African all-rounder Chloe Tryon and India’s batting sensation Jemimah Rodrigues, a testament to her impact in both ODIs and T20Is during May.
