Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced a ground-breaking three-match T20 International series against Nepal, marking the first-ever bilateral meeting between the two nations in this format.
Scheduled for September 27, 28, and 30, 2025, the series will unfold at the historic Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates—a neutral venue steeped in cricketing legacy.
Organized in collaboration with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and the Emirates Cricket Board, this series represents a defining moment in both countries’ cricketing journeys, particularly as Nepal prepares for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier later this year.
A symbol of growth, partnership, and purpose
Speaking on the significance of this unprecedented tour, CWI CEO Chris Dehring emphasized the broader meaning behind the matches:
“This series is more than just a set of international matches—it’s a celebration of the game’s expanding global footprint and a testament to what cricket represents: pride, purpose, and the power of unity.”
Dehring underscored West Indies’ responsibility as a full-member nation to foster the sport’s global development:
“Supporting Nepal in this key phase of their cricketing journey not only builds the sport at the grassroots and international levels but also reminds us of the deep pride and honor associated with representing our nation and wearing our national colors. We are proud to stand with Nepal at this moment in their history and look forward to exciting and competitive cricket in Sharjah.”
Strategic timing, global opportunity
With the series set just ahead of Nepal’s World Cup qualifying bid, the timing provides the South Asian nation with an invaluable chance to test its mettle against a team rich in experience and prestige. For West Indies, the tour reinforces its strategic mission to partner with and empower rising cricket nations through meaningful bilateral engagement.
The Sharjah series will also offer fans a chance to witness the magic of international cricket in a dynamic, multicultural setting—bringing together the Caribbean’s flair and Nepal’s rising fervor on a truly global stage.
Thanks and collaboration: A shared vision for the future
CWI expressed gratitude to both the Cricket Association of Nepal and the Emirates Cricket Board for their shared vision and efforts in bringing the series to fruition. The partnership embodies a collective commitment to expanding the game’s reach and ensuring that cricket continues to grow across continents and cultures.
