The game, moved from Rawalpindi to Islamabad, promises to be a crucial test of the Caribbean team’s readiness for the challenges ahead.

High praise for local conditions

Assistant coach and batting specialist Jimmy Adams expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and facilities in Islamabad. “The conditions here are perfect for cricket,” Adams noted. “The weather strikes a great balance—not too cold, not too hot—and the facilities are top-notch, providing excellent surfaces and plenty of practice bowlers. Our players have everything they need to prepare effectively.”

While the match is officially classified as a warm-up, Adams was quick to highlight its significance. “I wouldn’t use the word ‘just,’” he asserted. “This match offers invaluable time in the middle, and that’s critical as we approach the first Test. It’s an opportunity to fine-tune our preparations against a strong opposition, and hopefully, we can make the most of it.”

The former West Indies captain underscored the importance of adapting to unfamiliar conditions, a hallmark of successful touring sides. “This game is about mastering the basics and executing them for longer than our opponents. The conditions here are different from what we’re accustomed to, so this is an essential part of the build-up,” Adams added.

Rigorous training ahead of the clash

The West Indies squad has reportedly been putting in high-intensity sessions, focusing on both individual skills and team strategies. With only a few days to acclimatize following their long flight, Adams emphasized the importance of a sharp start. “Our focus has been on ensuring the players are mentally and physically prepared to deliver their best,” he said.

As the West Indies step onto the field Friday, fans and analysts alike will watch closely to see if the rigorous preparation pays off in this key warm-up match—a critical stepping stone toward what promises to be a fiercely contested Test series.
