West Indies ‘A’ loses to Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka ‘A’, on Saturday levelled their unofficial three-Test series against the West Indies ‘A’ with a devastating 280-run win inside the three days schedule at the Trelawny Multiplex in Jamaica.

Batting first Sri Lanka ‘A’ piled up a score 294 runs before bowling out the West Indies ‘A’ for 137 runs. Going out onto the batting square for the second time, Sri Lanka ‘A’ scored 267 to give themselves a 425-run lead with two days to go in the ‘Test’.

However, the West Indies ‘A’ fell woefully short, having been dismantled for just 144, still 280 runs shy of the target.

Only Sunil Ambris, 41, provided any resistance for the West Indies against the bowling of Malinda Pushpakumara, 6-46, and Shehan Jayasuriya, 2-48.

There was a wicket apiece for Dananjaya de Silva and (1-7) and Kasun Rajitha (1-13). Pushpakumara ended with match figures of 12-98.

Sri Lanka ‘A’s first innings was bolstered by an unbeaten 102 from Dasun Shanaka, who went on to also score 60runs in the second innings to crush the spirit of the Wst Indies ‘A’.

In Sri Lanka’s second innings there was also an unbeaten 50 from Wanindu Hasaranga, and 86 from Roshen Silva.
