Trinidad and Tobago netball sensation Samantha Wallace showcased her exceptional talent once again as she spearheaded the New South Wales Swifts to a commanding 47-33 victory over Giants Netball in their Pool B opener of the inaugural Suncorp Team Girls Cup.
Despite initially starting the match on the bench, Wallace’s impactful presence and accurate shooting in the latter stages proved decisive in securing the win for her team.
The intense battle between the Swifts and their State rivals, Giants Netball, unfolded at the Queensland State Netball Centre in Brisbane, Australia, on Sunday. Wallace’s stellar performance, supported by England international Helen Housby, played a pivotal role in propelling the Swifts to victory.
“Samantha Wallace made a significant impact coming off the bench, demonstrating her exceptional shooting ability and leading the Swifts to victory,” remarked coach of the New South Wales Swifts.
A closely contested battle
The match saw both teams locked in a closely contested battle for the first three quarters. However, Wallace’s entrance into the game injected new energy into the Swifts’ offense, allowing them to pull away in the final period and secure a convincing win.
“Samantha Wallace’s accuracy and determination were instrumental in guiding the Swifts to victory in their opening match of the Suncorp Team Girls Cup,” stated a spokesperson for the New South Wales Swifts.
The victory marks a strong start for the New South Wales Swifts in the pre-season tournament and sets a promising tone for their upcoming matches in the competition.
