Strong Jamaican contingent shines at 2024 Clemson Invitational with victories in Multiple Events

Jamaican athletes displayed their talents at the 2024 Clemson Invitational, with Danielle Williams securing a second-place finish in the Women’s 60m event.

Despite facing strong competition, Jamaicans achieved victories in several races, showcasing their sprinting prowess.

In the Women’s 60m, Williams, primarily known for her excellence in the sprint hurdles, demonstrated her versatility by clocking a time of 7.25 seconds. She finished in second place, with the event being won by Kaila Jackson from Georgia, who crossed the line in 7.19 seconds.

Campbell wins the men’s 60m hurdles in 7.74secs

Jehlani Gordon of Georgia claimed the top spot in the men’s 60m, completing the race in 6.60 seconds. Jamaican athlete Lafranz Campbell emerged as the winner in the men’s 60m hurdles with a time of 7.74 seconds.

Leah Anderson delivered an impressive performance in the women’s 400m, securing victory with a time of 51.95 seconds. Charokee Young, another Jamaican athlete, finished second in the women’s 600m, with Gladys Chepngetich from Clemson taking the top spot.

The meet also featured notable performances in the 400m, 600m, and mile races, with athletes achieving personal bests and impressive times.

Field events

In the field events, Madison Richards, competing unattached, won the women’s long jump with a leap of 6.31 meters. Isaac Grimes, also unattached, achieved an outstanding distance of 8.01 meters in the men’s long jump.

Overall, Jamaican athletes showcased their talent and versatility, earning victories and commendable performances in various events at the Clemson Invitational.
