Sherwlyn Powell of the St. Bess cricket squad scored over a century not-out last weekend to help his team to a massive 170 runs win via the Duckworth–Lewis (D/L) method over Tropics United.
Powell piled up the huge ton during his time at the crease at the John Stretch Park, where the two sides faced off.
Winning the toss and batting first, St. Bess, with Powell’s help, reached 294 for 7 wickets when rain intervened. Powell ended the match at 125 not-out from only 65 balls.
His innings consisted of 9 fours and 9 sixes.
Masood Mohammed was in an even more no-nonsense mood, hitting a blistering 83 runs from only 37 balls with 3 fours and nine sixes. The two put the Tropics bowlers to the test but Marcel Graham managed to bag 3 for 50 from 7 overs while Bert Davis grabbed 2 for 32 from 3.4 overs. Set a very huge target of 260 runs to win from 28 overs.
Tropics United limped to 87 all out in 19.1 overs. St. Christopher Brown top scored with 33, which included 3 fours and 2 sixes while Keith Bazil added 21, which included 3 fours.
Bowling for St. Bess, Powell also returned to bag 4 for 24 from 6 overs, including 1 maiden spell, while Keith Graham took 3 for 12 from 4 overs.
