The contract-signing ceremony took place at the AC Hotel Kingston last Thursday and was attended by Sandals Executive Chairman, Adam Stewart, Tapper, her family members, and close supporters.

Megan Tapper garnered international acclaim during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when she made history as the first Jamaican female athlete to secure an Olympic medal in the 100-meter sprint hurdles. Beyond her athletic achievements, it was Tapper’s vibrant personality and captivating charm that endeared her to Jamaicans, including Sandals Executive Chairman Adam Stewart.

Inspiration to the younger generation

Stewart praised Tapper’s accomplishments on the global stage and commended her role as an inspiration to the younger generation. He highlighted the alignment between Megan Tapper’s persona, which reflects the essence of Jamaica, and Sandals Resorts International’s values, motivating the luxury all-inclusive resort brand to join forces with the Olympian.

Stewart emphasized that Jamaican athletics is a powerful beacon that propels the nation’s three million people onto the world stage. Through their achievements, athletes like Tapper attract global attention, encouraging individuals worldwide to experience Jamaica’s rich culture, warm hospitality, and breathtaking beauty.

Tapper’s journey transcends personal success, as it symbolizes the collective aspirations of the entire nation. Stewart assured Tapper of Sandals Resorts’ unwavering support, along with the enthusiastic backing of Jamaicans and Caribbean nationals worldwide.

Golden and incredible opportunity

Tapper, visibly moved by the overwhelming show of support from Adam Stewart, expressed her gratitude and described the sponsorship deal with Sandals as a golden and incredible opportunity. She eagerly anticipates the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France, and is excited to represent such a prestigious brand on the global stage.

Tapper’s partnership with Sandals Resorts International signifies a meaningful collaboration that underscores the brand’s commitment to supporting sports in Jamaica. While not an apparel brand, Sandals recognizes the pivotal role of sports, particularly in athletics and tourism, and is proud to contribute positively to further elevate its brand.

Stewart took the opportunity to acknowledge and commend other Jamaican brands, such as Digicel and GraceKennedy, for their steadfast support of local athletics. He called on corporate Jamaica to continue forging such valuable partnerships and reaffirmed the importance of support for Jamaican athletics.
