In a recent Championship match, Reggae Boy Jamal Lowe showcased his scoring prowess, netting his fifth goal of the season for Swansea City.
However, his effort was in vain as Swansea City faced a 2-1 defeat against Middlesbrough on Saturday, marking their first loss in four games.
The 29-year-old Lowe found the back of the net in the 59th minute, equalizing the scoreline at home after Sam Greenwood had given Middlesbrough the lead with a 43rd-minute goal. Swansea City suffered a setback when substitute Samuel Silvera, who came off the bench in the 72nd minute, sealed the victory for Middlesbrough with a well-taken free kick in the 78th minute.
18th place in the Championship standings
Following this loss, Swansea City found themselves in 18th place in the Championship standings with 25 points, while Middlesbrough climbed to 13th place with 30 points.
Middlesbrough managed to take the lead just before half-time, defying the flow of the game when Matt Crooks provided the assist for Sam Greenwood to score, eluding Swansea’s goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.
Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Swansea City rallied in the second half, with Jamal Lowe rising to the occasion by heading in a cross from Josh Tymon, leveling the score nearly a quarter of an hour into the second period.
Shaq Forde made a significant impact
In League One action, teenager Shaq Forde made a significant impact off the bench for Leyton Orient. Despite being reduced to 10 men after Ben Williams received a second yellow card in the 18th minute, Leyton Orient managed to come from behind and secure a 2-1 victory over Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road.
Cheltenham Town had taken the lead through Will Goodwin’s 68th-minute penalty. However, 19-year-old Shaq Forde, the son of former Barbados international Fabian Forde, entered the game in the 74th minute and equalized in the 89th minute with a deflected shot. The late drama continued as Ethan Galbraith scored the winner deep into stoppage time.
In the National League South, Jordan Greenidge showcased his scoring prowess by netting twice for Tonbridge Angels in a convincing 4-0 victory over Dartford at Longmead Stadium. The 23-year-old Greenidge, the younger brother of Guyana international Reiss Greenidge, found the back of the net in the 22nd and 78th minutes, contributing significantly to his team’s triumph.
