The Miami Heat displayed a dominant performance to secure a 110-96 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night. The game saw standout performances from several Heat players, ultimately leading them to victory.
Tyler Herro was the leading scorer for the Heat with 21 points, while Duncan Robinson played a crucial role with 11 of his 13 points coming in the fourth quarter. Additionally, Jaime Jaquez Jr. contributed 16 points, and both Nikola Jokic and Bam Adebayo added 15 points each.
The well-rounded performance was evident as all eight Miami players who saw action scored in double figures. Kevin Love also had a notable performance with a season-high 14 rebounds and 10 points.
Lakers made a late push in the fourth quarter
Throughout the game, the Heat maintained their lead, but the Lakers made a late push in the fourth quarter, closing the gap to 74-72 with 10:46 remaining. Miami responded with a 10-2 run, fueled by 3-pointers from Robinson and Jaquez. Robinson’s key shot from the corner near the Lakers’ bench extended the Heat’s lead to 77-72 and provided the momentum shift they needed.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra praised Robinson’s performance, emphasizing his ability to ignite the team with his shooting. Miami’s strong fourth quarter included a 15-6 run, sealing their victory. They shot 39.1% from the field in the first three quarters but improved to 14 of 24 in the fourth, including 6 of 11 on 3-pointers.
Struggled from beyond the arc
The Lakers, on the other hand, struggled from beyond the arc, making just 4 of 30 attempts and committing 15 of their 22 turnovers in the first half. Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 29 points and 18 rebounds, while Austin Reaves contributed 24 points. LeBron James had 12 points but struggled with his shooting.
This victory marked the end of a two-game losing streak for the Heat, while the Lakers extended their losing streak to three games. The Lakers have faced challenges this season and are now 17-18. The team has a challenging schedule ahead, playing 11 of 12 games in Los Angeles, including a “road game” against the Clippers.
Miami played without Jimmy Butler for the sixth time in seven games due to irritation in his right foot.
