The Dolphins dominated on both sides of the ball, outgaining the Jets by an impressive 236 yards and showcasing their defensive prowess with 7.0 sacks and two interceptions.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa played a pivotal role in the Dolphins’ success, passing for 243 yards and extending his remarkable streak to 20 consecutive games with a passing touchdown. He found wide receivers Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill, both surpassing the 100-yard mark in receiving yards.

Dominance in the rushing game

Running back Raheem Mostert contributed significantly with 20 carries for 94 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Dolphins establish dominance in the rushing game, outgaining the Jets 167-29 in rushing yards.

The Dolphins’ defense was relentless, with defensive tackle Christian Wilkins leading the way with 2.0 sacks. Safety Jevon Holland and linebacker Jerome Baker contributed crucial interceptions to stifle the Jets’ offensive efforts.

Miami’s first-quarter possessions showed promise as they moved the ball down the field, but they faced two key fourth-down situations. While they failed to convert on the first possession, opting for a field goal on the second attempt, they eventually reached the end zone on their third drive. Tagovailoa’s precise passes to Waddle and Hill played a crucial role in their touchdown drive, resulting in a 10-0 lead in the second quarter.

First offensive touchdown

The Dolphins’ defense remained formidable, holding the Jets to just 47 net yards on offense in the first half and denying any third-down conversions. Despite a late interception, the Dolphins managed to extend their lead on the final play of the half when Jevon Holland returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown, giving them a 17-6 advantage.

In the second half, the Dolphins continued their dominance, adding more points with a 54-yard field goal by Jason Sanders and a 13-yard touchdown run by Raheem Mostert. While the Jets managed to score their first offensive touchdown, the Dolphins responded with a 34-yard touchdown run by Mostert, sealing the 34-13 victory.

The Dolphins’ defensive performance was particularly noteworthy, limiting the Jets to just 29 rushing yards, which tied for the Jets’ lowest output in over a decade.
