Manchester City’s standout forward Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has emerged as a top contender for the Women’s Super League (WSL) Player of the Season award, marking a significant milestone in her career.
The 27-year-old Jamaican striker has been nominated for the prestigious accolade in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the league.
Shaw’s prolific goal-scoring prowess has been a cornerstone of Manchester City’s success this season, with her 21 league goals in 18 WSL appearances propelling the team to the top of the standings. Alongside goalkeeper Khiara Keating, Shaw has played a pivotal role in City’s ascent to the league summit, amassing 52 points and maintaining a three-point lead over reigning champions Chelsea.
Despite her season being cut short due to a broken foot sustained in a match against West Ham, Shaw’s impact on the pitch has been undeniable. Her impressive goal tally of 22 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions underscores her importance to the Manchester City squad.
I suffered a broken foot
Following her injury, Shaw expressed gratitude for the support she received, stating on Instagram: “Gutted to know I suffered a broken foot … but grateful the surgery went well. The greatest stories are those who defy all odds.”
