Kyshona Knight replaces Ramharack for final ODI

West Indies Women’s selectors have called up batsman Kyshona Knight for Friday’s final One-Day International (ODI) against England Women.

The experienced 30-year-old replaces off-spinner Karishma Ramharack in the only change to the 14-member squad for the day-night contest at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground.

West Indies Women trail 2-0 in the three-match series after losing the first two ODIs each by 142 runs.

“The third and final ODI will be important in the overall landscape of the series,” said chief selector Ann Browne-John. “Although England has already won the series, this final match will give the batters an opportunity to get some much-needed time at the crease before the start of the T20 International series on Sunday.

“The batting has not come through as we would want it but there are many experienced batters in the team, who with the right application can produce.”

Ramharack did not feature in either ODI and her omission is an attempt to strengthen a batting unit which has failed to muster 170 in the series.

Knight, the twin sister of Kycia who is already a part of the squad, has already played over 100 internationals combined, and was last in action in September against New Zealand Women.

“It’s unfortunate that Karishma has missed out on this series as we believe she is a vital component in our bowling attack but the return of Kyshona Knight will help bolster our batting line-up, as we seek a win in this final match of the CG United ODI series,” said Browne-John.

SQUAD – Hayley Matthews (captain), Shakera Selman (vice-captain), Aaliyah Alleyne, Shemaine Campbelle, Afy Fletcher, Cherry Ann Fraser, Shabika Gajnabi, Sheneta Grimmond, Chinelle Henry, Kycia Knight, Kyshona Knight, Chedean Nation, Kaysia Schultz, Rashada Williams.
