Khadija Shaw in contention for Manchester City Women’s Player-of-the-Month Award

Reggae Girl Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw has been named among the contenders for the Manchester City Women’s Player-of-the-Month award, recognizing her exceptional contributions to the club's success.
The 27-year-old Shaw made history last month by becoming Manchester City's all-time leading goalscorer, surpassing Georgia Stanway's previous record of 67 goals. Shaw's remarkable achievement was accompanied by a prolific goal-scoring spree, netting five goals across various fixtures.
Her goal-scoring exploits included strikes against Everton at the Joie Stadium, away to Brighton, against arch-rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium, and a memorable double against Liverpool at Prenton Park. Shaw's consistent performance has elevated her career tally to 70 goals for Manchester City since joining from French club Bordeaux three years ago, with 19 goals scored in the current season.
Taylor praised Shaw's impact on the team
City manager Gareth Taylor praised Shaw's impact on the team, emphasizing her unique qualities as both a goal scorer and a pivotal presence on the field.
Despite Shaw's impressive performances, she faces strong competition for the March award. Midfielder Jess Park delivered standout performances, scoring twice against Manchester United and providing an assist, before adding another goal in the victory over Liverpool. Additionally, Lauren Hemp showcased her versatility by scoring three goals and contributing an assist, highlighting her dynamic play both in attack and midfield.
Manchester City Women are in contention for the Women’s Super League title this season and currently lead the table with 46 points, holding a three-point advantage over defending champions Chelsea, albeit having played one more game.
The Manchester City Women’s Player-of-the-Month award reflects the team's commitment to excellence and recognizes the outstanding contributions of its players towards achieving their season's objectives.
