Shaw’s decisive strike in the 73rd minute capped off a strong performance, keeping City firmly in contention for the WSL title.

City set the pace early, controlling possession and pressing Palace’s defense, but a resilient Palace held them goalless until the 40th minute. Midfielder Jess Park then unleashed a powerful, long-range shot to break the deadlock and put City on the board.

Sealed the game

The momentum continued into the second half, with Jill Roord capitalizing on a loose ball in the penalty area to double City’s lead just five minutes after the restart.

Shaw, City’s all-time leading scorer, then sealed the game with her clinical finish in the 73rd minute, securing three more points and extending City’s unbeaten start to the season. The victory placed City three points ahead of Brighton and six points in front of defending champions Chelsea.

City’s formidable offense and Shaw’s consistent scoring make them a strong contender as they continue their WSL campaign.
