Jamaica’s national football team, the Reggae Boyz, will commence their CONCACAF World Cup play-offs with a home fixture against the Dominican Republic on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
The match schedule for this pivotal round was officially announced by CONCACAF on Monday.
As part of Group E for the second round of qualifying, the Reggae Boyz will play their first home game and then travel to Dominica for an away match three days later on June 9. The next set of fixtures will take place approximately a year later.
On June 7, 2025, the Reggae Boyz will be on the road once again to face the winners of the play-offs between the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands. The second round of play-offs will culminate with a home game on June 10, 2025, against Guatemala.
Preference for playing tougher opponents at home
The draw for this round aligns with the preferences expressed by head coach Heimir Hallgrímsson, who indicated a preference for playing tougher opponents at home.
In the second round, the top two teams from each of the six groups will secure advancement to the third and final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers. This decisive stage is scheduled to take place between September and November 2025.
