Their inclusion on this prestigious list highlights their exceptional talent and dedication to collegiate athletics.

The Bowerman Award, which celebrates the most outstanding NCAA male and female athletes in the USA, is a testament to the remarkable achievements of these athletes. Their selection follows the historic win in 2023, where Caribbean athletes Jaydon Hibbert and Julien Alfred clinched the prestigious award for the first time.

Won the 60m dash in 7.07 seconds

Brianna Lyston’s presence on the list is particularly noteworthy, as she joins teammates Alia Armstrong and Michaela Rose, making LSU the eighth program to have at least three athletes on the Women’s Watch List. Hailing from Portmore, Jamaica, Lyston’s impressive performance at the Razorback Invitational, where she won the 60m dash in 7.07 seconds, solidified her place on the list.

Representing Texas A&M, Lamara Distin reclaims her spot on the Watch List after an impressive high jump clearance of 1.94m at the Ted Nelson Invitational. With a personal record of 1.97m indoors, Distin aims to secure her third consecutive NCAA DI Indoor crown, showcasing her prowess in the high jump event.

Ackelia Smith, from Clarendon, Jamaica, has showcased her versatility by dominating the long jump event this season. With notable victories, including a 6.85m leap at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, Smith has established herself as a formidable competitor in collegiate track and field.

The upcoming Bowerman Watch List, to be announced on February 28, promises further recognition of exceptional talent in collegiate athletics.
