In addition, John Kendricks was named Freshman of the Week, making it a double honor for the Razorbacks this week.

Beckford’s remarkable achievement came when he set an indoor personal best of 2.27 meters, securing victory in the high jump at the Razorback Invitational. Notably, he also made an ambitious attempt to meet the Olympic qualifying standard of 2.33 meters.

Currently, Beckford stands as the collegiate leader in high jump, and his mark ranks as the sixth-best performance in the world for the 2024 season.

No. 4 on the Arkansas all-time high jump list

This exceptional performance not only solidified Beckford’s status as the defending 2023 NCAA indoor and outdoor champion but also elevated him to No. 4 on the Arkansas all-time high jump list. Furthermore, he now holds the No. 3 position on the Jamaican all-time indoor high jump list, tying for the No. 4 performance.

The Jamaican indoor record of 2.30 meters is held by Germaine Mason, set in 2003, while Christoff Bryan ranks second with a 2.28-meter performance from 2015.

Romaine Beckford’s recognition as the SEC Field Athlete of the Week underscores his remarkable talent and dedication to high jump, making him a standout athlete to watch in the upcoming competitions.
