In 2022, Jamaica secured three medals – one gold and two bronze – finishing 12th on the medal table.

The country’s gold medal was clinched in the women’s 4×400-metre relay, while bronze medals were earned by Kimberly Williams in the women’s triple jump and Stephenie-Ann McPherson in the women’s 400 metres.

Aiming to replicate her previous success

Returning to the championships, Kimberly Williams will compete in the triple jump once again, aiming to replicate her previous success. However, McPherson, who set a national senior Indoor record of 50.79 seconds in the women’s 400 metres, will only participate in the women’s 4×400-metre relay.

Jamaican athletes are set for early action with Stacy-Ann Williams and Charokee Young contesting the preliminary round of the women’s 400 metres, followed by Rusheen McDonald in the men’s 400 metres preliminary round.

Female shot putter Danniel Thomas-Dodd, with a season’s best of 18.75 metres, will compete in the women’s shot put final, while Natoya Goule and Ackeem Blake will participate in the women’s 800 metres preliminary round and men’s 60 metres heats, respectively.

Expected to advance

Blake, ranked third in the world in the men’s 60 metres event, with a season and personal best of 6.45 seconds, is expected to advance to the semi-finals and possibly contend for a medal in the final.

Also, Rajindra Campbell, ranked fourth in the world in men’s shot put, will compete in the final, aiming to showcase his prowess in the event.
