Amidst ongoing disputes and challenges, the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has unveiled a 22-player squad for two significant international friendly matches against Chile on February 23 and 27.
Despite the absence of key senior first-team players due to unresolved issues with the football federation, the selected squad showcases a mix of talented athletes from various backgrounds and universities.
The delegation set to represent Jamaica in these crucial encounters includes standout players such as Theana Burnett from Sacred Heart University, Serena Mensa from Fordham University, and Sydnie Street from Seneca College. The team’s roster reflects diversity, with representatives from institutions like George Mason University, SCU Torreense, and SK Slavia Praha Zeny.
Despite the challenges, the selected squad is prepared to face the formidable Chilean opponents. The delegation, comprising both local officials and Senior Women’s National Team (SWNT) players, was scheduled to depart from Jamaica on Tuesday and assemble in Chile the following day.
Technical and support staff
Leading the charge is Head Coach Xavier Gilbert, supported by Assistant Coach Jermaine Thomas, Team Manager Crystal Walters, and Team Doctor Ruchelle Brown.
The coaching and support staff also include physiotherapist Ashley Stephens, masseur Devin Lawson, GK Coach Everdean Scarlet, equipment manager Omar Folkes, and trainer Leacroft Lettman. Heading the delegation is Paul Beckford.
