After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Scorpions posted 155-4 in 31 overs before rain forced a pause in play. Kirk McKenzie led the batting line-up with an unbeaten 59 off 75 balls, including five boundaries and two sixes, while captain John Campbell contributed a quick 41 off 49 balls.

The Volcanoes were set a revised target of 205 from 30 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, but ultimately fell short, bowled out for 186 in 29.3 overs. Captain Sunil Ambris top-scored with a valiant 59, supported by Shamar Springer and Kavem Hodge, who chipped in with 37 and 36 runs, respectively.

Marquino Mindley led the Scorpions’ bowling attack with figures of 4-33 in six overs, while Tamarie Redwood and Odean Smith each picked up two wickets to restrict the Volcanoes.

First win of the tournament

At the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, the Guyana Harpy Eagles registered their first win of the tournament, defeating the Leeward Islands Hurricanes by eight wickets, also under the DLS method. Batting first, the Hurricanes managed 139 all out in a game reduced to 41 overs. Rakheem Cornwall led the scoring with 36, while Jeremiah Louis added 34 runs. Justin Greaves, who had been in excellent form with three centuries in previous games, was dismissed for a modest 27.

Veerasammy Permaul delivered an impactful performance, taking 3-24 from nine overs to earn Man of the Match honors, with Ashmead Nedd and Nial Smith adding two wickets each. Guyana comfortably chased down their target, reaching 141-2 in 27.5 overs.

Captain Tevin Imlach anchored the chase with an unbeaten 69 off 76 balls, his third fifty of the tournament, while Matthew Nandu contributed a solid 50 off 74 deliveries to secure the win.
