The 18-year-old who qualified for the final with the farthest jump of 17.70m two days ago and appeared set to claim a medal at his first global senior championship, appeared to hurt his hamstring on his first effort.

It had to be aborted with the teenager holding on to the back of his leg. He sought medical attention and took no further part.
