On June 15, the Stockholm Diamond League will ignite with one of the most electrifying match-ups of the season: the women’s 100-meter hurdles.
Four of the globe’s premier hurdlers—Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent, The Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton, the USA’s Grace Stark, and the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser—are set to collide in a contest rich with Olympic implications and championship ambition.
Nugent eyes momentum before Jamaican Trials
Ackera Nugent, widely regarded as one of the most consistent hurdlers on the international circuit this season, sees Stockholm as a pivotal checkpoint on her road to Jamaica’s fiercely competitive national trials.
“This is a crucial test for me,” Nugent said ahead of the race. “I want to measure where I’m at and sharpen up before trials.”
Nugent’s sharp form and late-race strength have made her a standout on the Diamond League circuit, and she enters Stockholm with a clear goal: dominate the field and solidify her position among the world’s elite.
Charlton brings world-leading speed and fierce intent
Lining up beside her is Devynne Charlton, the Bahamian sprint queen and world indoor 60m hurdles record holder. Known for her explosive reaction time and relentless drive, Charlton has been a commanding presence all season long.
“I’m feeling confident and locked in,” Charlton declared. “Every race is a stepping stone to Tokyo.”
Charlton’s unmatched start and blistering pace make her a formidable threat in any lane—a fact that adds fire to this already combustible contest.
Stark surges forward as series leader
Adding further intrigue is American standout Grace Stark, who currently leads the Diamond League standings following her impressive victory in Keqiao. The Florida native has hit her stride in 2025, combining clean technique with raw speed to rise through the ranks.
“This season has been about finding consistency and building momentum,” said Stark. “Stockholm is another chance to show I belong at the top.”
Visser’s veteran edge in familiar territory
Rounding out this dynamic quartet is Nadine Visser, the two-time European indoor champion from the Netherlands. With four previous appearances in Stockholm since 2018, Visser brings a veteran’s edge and a deep familiarity with the Swedish track.
“I love racing here—it feels like home,” Visser shared. “The crowd, the energy, it always brings out my best.”
With the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo looming just months away, this Diamond League face-off is more than a race—it’s a statement. For Nugent, Charlton, Stark, and Visser, June 15 offers a golden opportunity to test themselves against the very best, under the bright lights of one of Europe’s most storied meets.
Expect fireworks. The road to Tokyo starts here.
