Cricket West Indies (CWI) President Dr. Kishore Shallow had productive meetings in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on November 6 and 7, 2023, with officials from Broward County and the City of Lauderhill, discussing the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled for June 2024.

This event marks a historic moment as it will be the largest cricket World Cup ever, jointly hosted by West Indies and the USA.

The primary focus of these meetings centered on the preparations and opportunities surrounding the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Additionally, discussions revolved around collaborative efforts to enhance cricket in both the West Indies and the USA, as well as the possibility of sustaining a partnership with Worldwide Sports Enterprise (WSE).

Satisfaction with the enthusiasm displayed

President Shallow expressed his satisfaction with the enthusiasm displayed by key stakeholders in the USA, especially Broward County and the City of Lauderhill. He stated, “Broward County and the City of Lauderhill are fully committed, and collective endeavors are underway to ensure the resounding success of this monumental event.” President Shallow also acknowledged the crucial role played by WSE in fostering cricket’s growth in Broward County.

Broward County Commissioner Hazelle Roger eagerly looks forward to hosting the World Cup and showcasing Broward’s excellence and hospitality to the world. “We are eagerly awaiting the announcements of the scheduled games to be played at Broward Central Regional Park,” she said.

Unforgettable memories

Mayor Ken Thurston of the City of Lauderhill shared similar sentiments, expressing honor at hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the United States and Central Broward Park and Stadium in Lauderhill. He anticipates creating unforgettable memories for guests, players, families, and friends attending the tournament.

Participants at the meetings included Jeff Miller from WSE, senior management of Visit Lauderdale, and senior officials from Broward County Parks and Recreation.

In August 2023, Broward County Stadium hosted a thrilling T20I series, where West Indies emerged victorious over India, co-hosted by CWI and WSE. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 match schedule is expected to be announced shortly, following the ICC board meetings in India in November 2023.
