LAUDERHILL, FL — The unmistakable rhythm of Caribbean pride will come alive this Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2025, as Lauderhill Sports Park transforms into a festival of sport, culture, and community.
The Jamaica High School Alumni Sporting Network (JHSASN) will stage its annual showcase, highlighted by the legendary All-Manning vs. All-DaCosta Cup showdowns, spanning Over-50, Over-40, and Open divisions.
More than just matches, these games rekindle Jamaica’s iconic schoolboy football rivalry, bridging generations while igniting friendly banter and nostalgic pride.
More than football: A full Caribbean festival
In true Caribbean style, the celebration extends well beyond the pitch:
- Netball Action – High-energy contests spotlighting the athleticism and camaraderie of school pride.
- Track & Field Fun – Crowd favorites like the Egg & Spoon Race and Sack Race, inviting all ages to take part.
- Music Through the Decades – A soundtrack that spans from 1970s classics to today’s hottest rhythms, keeping the vibes alive throughout the evening.
- Authentic Caribbean Cuisine – A taste of home with food and refreshments available for purchase.
- Family-centered atmosphere – A welcoming space designed to unite generations under the banner of sport and heritage.
A city’s endorsement
Lauderhill’s leaders are firmly behind the event. Commissioner John T. Hodgson hailed the gathering as a true reflection of the city’s identity:
“Events like this showcase the heart of our city — diversity, energy, and unity,” he said. “From soccer to netball, these games strengthen cultural ties, celebrate our Caribbean heritage, and create lasting opportunities for our youth. The Manning vs. DaCosta rivalry is legendary, and bringing it to Lauderhill not only honors Caribbean heritage but also strengthens our city’s reputation as a thriving destination for culture, sports, and community.”
The event is open to all, with Caribbean nationals, alumni, sports enthusiasts, and families across South Florida encouraged to come represent their school, parish, and cultural pride.
