BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — With composure, precision, and a hunger for redemption, Barbados sealed their dominance in the 2025 Rising Stars Men’s Under-19 50-Over Championship, defeating previously unbeaten USA-1 by six wickets in a clinical finale at the Conaree Sports Club on Thursday.
The title-clinching victory was more than just silverware—it was sweet revenge. Just days earlier, the same American side had humbled Barbados with a colossal 216-run win. But in the match that mattered most, the boys in blue and yellow rose to the occasion, executing a disciplined bowling effort followed by a composed chase to snatch glory.
Dorne leads from the front as Barbados chase down 213 with ease
Chasing a target of 213, Barbados displayed poise and purpose, coasting to 215 for four in only 38.2 overs. Skipper Joshua Dorne anchored the innings with a commanding unbeaten 55, guiding his team over the line with the authority of a captain on a mission.
His match-sealing 84-run fourth-wicket partnership with Joshua Branche, who chipped in with a valuable 29, all but secured the title for Barbados.
The foundation was laid early. Openers Micah Greenidge (32) and Zachary Carter (34) stitched together a 65-run opening stand before Greenidge and Shaquan Belle (45) added another 50-plus for the second wicket, setting a platform from which Barbados never faltered.
Pollard, Carter deliver with the ball to contain American threat
Earlier in the day, Barbados’ bowlers kept the high-flying USA-1 batting line-up in check, dismissing them for 212 all out.
Left-arm seamer Jakeem Pollard led the charge with 3 for 42, while Zachary Carter, turning in a fine all-round performance, complemented with 3 for 46.
Despite fighting knocks from Sahil Garg (40) and Adnit Jhamb (38), the Americans couldn’t accelerate late in the innings, allowing Barbados to maintain control.
Windwards outclass Jamaica to secure third place
Over at St Mary’s Park, the Windward Islands stamped their authority to finish third, dismantling Jamaica by 76 runs. Half-centuries from Kirt Murray (62) and Stephan Pascal (60) powered the Windwards to 226.
In reply, Jamaica crumbled to 150 in 26.5 overs, with only captain Brian Barnes (46) showing resistance as Theo Edward (3-27) and Cody Fontenelle (3-38) ran riot through the batting order.
Guyana grind past T&T to caim fifth spot
At St Paul’s Sports Complex, Guyana wrapped up their campaign in fifth place with a workmanlike five-wicket win over Trinidad and Tobago.
Chasing a modest 128 for 9, Romeo Deonarine stood firm with a composed 52 not out, after Riyad Latiff (3-20) and Parmeshwar Ram (2-18) had done the damage with the ball to pin T&T on the back foot.
At Elquemedo Willett Park, Isra-el Morton produced a stellar all-round performance to guide the Leeward Islands to a 66-run victory over USA-2.
Morton top-scored with 47, backing up Zavio Henry’s 64 as the Leewards posted 211. Then, with the ball, Morton returned to wreck the American innings with 5 for 27, while Matthew Miller added pressure with 2 for 11, bundling USA-2 out for 145.
