Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has lauded Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey, describing him as being “in the form of his life” following his standout performance in Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Nottingham Forest.
Speaking on Match of the Day, Richards praised Bailey’s consistency and impact on the pitch, highlighting his ability to pose a constant threat from the right-hand side.
“Leon Bailey was excellent,” remarked Richards. “He talks about his manager and he wants to be more consistent, and he showed that today. When he’s on the right-hand side – and I’ve played against wingers like this – it’s always difficult to defend when they can go both ways.”
Ability to create opportunities and make intelligent runs
Richards commended Bailey’s decision-making, versatility, and confidence during the match, emphasizing his ability to create opportunities and make intelligent runs.
“He gets his reward for working so hard, and it was a lovely little tap-in to round off an excellent performance,” added Richards.
The former Premier League star highlighted Bailey’s impressive statistics, noting that only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah have a better record in terms of minutes per goal or assist.
In the form of his life
“He’s in the form of his life – this is what he showed at Leverkusen. This is what we all wanted to see,” concluded Richards.
Bailey’s stellar display against Nottingham Forest further solidified his status as a key player for Aston Villa, earning plaudits from both fans and pundits alike for his exceptional contributions on the field.
