World Champion Danielle Williams joined by Ackeem Blake, Ackera Nugent for Millrose Games in New York

Jamaican athletes Ackeem Blake and Ackera Nugent have been officially confirmed to participate in the prestigious Millrose Games, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting, scheduled for February 11 in New York.

They will join world gold medalist Danielle Williams, who was previously announced as part of the event's line-up.

Blake, the 21-year-old sprint sensation, who secured his first international 100m championship at the 4th NACAC Open Championships in the Bahamas in 2022, will compete in the highly competitive men's 60m event. Blake will face strong contenders, including Canada's Olympic 200m champion Andre De Grasse, USA's Christian Coleman (the 2019 world 100m champion and 2018 world 60m champion), and Coleman's compatriot Ronnie Baker.

A formidable field

The field also includes Japanese record-holder Abdul Hakim Sani Brown and Puerto Rican record-holder Miles Lewis.

In the women's 60m hurdles, Nugent, who finished fifth in the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, will face a formidable field. This field includes world bronze medalist Kendra Harrison of the USA, Devynne Charlton of The Bahamas, and USA's 2019 world champion Nia Ali.

Danielle Williams, the reigning world champion in the event, will renew her rivalry with Harrison in this thrilling contest. Additional quality to the field is contributed by the US athletes Alaysha Johnson and Tia Jones.

Rich history and tradition

The Millrose Games hurdles field announcement follows the confirmation of star athletes like Pia Skrzyszowska, Tobi Amusan, Reetta Hurske, and Luca Kozak for the 60m hurdles at the ORLEN Copernicus Cup, another World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting in Torun, Poland, scheduled for February 6.

The Millrose Games, with its rich history and tradition, continues to attract world-class athletes and promises to deliver thrilling competition for track and field enthusiasts worldwide. The event will provide fans with an exciting showcase of talent and athleticism.
