Return to the championship match

This will be Williams' second appearance as an on-field umpire in a Women's T20 World Cup final.

She previously officiated the 2023 championship match between South Africa and Australia, a contest won by the Australians, and now returns to oversee another title showdown on cricket's most celebrated stage.

For Rathi, meanwhile, Sunday's encounter represents a career first, as she prepares to make her debut as an on-field umpire in a Women's T20 World Cup final.

Williams has already played a prominent role during this year's competition, having been entrusted with several of its most significant fixtures.

The 50-year-old stood in the tournament opener between England and Sri Lanka before taking charge of England's convincing 40-run semi-final victory over South Africa.

She also officiated Australia's important six-wicket win against India, further underlining the ICC's faith in her experience and consistency during high-pressure contests.

Experienced team to oversee final

Williams and Rathi will be supported by an experienced officiating panel for the championship match.

New Zealand's Kim Cotton has been appointed third umpire, Sri Lanka's Nimali Perera will serve as fourth umpire, and India's GS Lakshmi has been named match referee.

With one of women's cricket's most prestigious trophies on the line, the ICC has assembled an accomplished team of officials to oversee the highly anticipated final between Australia and England at the Home of Cricket.
