Multiple world and Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Olympic diver Yona Knight-Wisdom have been named captains of Jamaica's Olympic team for the Paris Games.

The announcement was made on Friday by Jamaica Olympic Association president Christopher Samuda during a media briefing at the organization’s headquarters.

Fraser-Pryce, who served as the flag bearer for the opening ceremony at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, will be competing in her fifth and final Olympic Games, while Knight-Wisdom, who will be competing in his third Olympic Games, has also announced that Paris will mark his final appearance.

"Having Shelly-Ann and Yona as team captains underscores their leadership and experience, which will be invaluable to the team," Samuda said.

Fraser-Pryce’s selection as team captain comes as she prepares for her final Olympic Games, aiming to add to her illustrious career that has seen her win multiple world and Olympic titles. Knight-Wisdom, known for his pioneering role in Jamaican diving, looks to make a significant impact in his last Olympic appearance.

"I am deeply honored to be named team captain alongside Yona. This role is a testament to our dedication and the hard work we've put into our respective sports," Fraser-Pryce remarked.

Knight-Wisdom expressed his excitement and pride in being named captain, "To lead the Jamaican team in my final Olympics is a tremendous honor. I am committed to giving my best performance and supporting my teammates in Paris."
