An eight-foot bronze statue of legendary sprint icon Usain Bolt was unveiled at Jamaica's National Stadium in Kingston on Sunday, Dec 3.

The statue, sculpted by Basil Watson, shows Bolt making his trademark 'to the world' stance.

The Jamaican sprinter, who retired from a superlative career in track and field after the IAAF World Championships London 2017, was at the ceremony to show his appreciation for the statue.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness unveiled the statue and was the guest speaker at the event said Jamaica owe Bolt a lot for the branding capital he has given to the country.

Among those paying tribute at the unveiling ceremony were Warren Blake, President of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA); Victor Lopez, President of the North American, Central American and Caribbean Association of Athletics (NACAC); Sebastian Coe, President of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), who spoke via video; Sports Minister Olivia Grange; and Dr. Peter Phillips, Leader of the Parliamentary Opposition.
