US Virgin Islands celebrates Theron Thomas’ historic Grammy win

The US Virgin Islands is abuzz with excitement and pride as their very own Theron Thomas secured a triumphant victory at the 66th Grammy Awards by clinching the Songwriter of the Year (Non-Classical) accolade.

At 41 years old, Thomas, a native of St. Thomas, achieved his maiden Grammy win, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career. 

Over the past year, he has consistently delivered chart-topping hits, including “Cheat Back” for Chloe and Future, “How We Roll” for Ciara and Chris Brown, and “All My Life” for Lil Durk and J. Cole.

His talent for crafting memorable songs has led him to collaborate with some of the industry’s biggest names, including Rihanna, Beyoncé, Ciara, and Victoria Monet.

During his heartfelt acceptance speech at the Grammy Awards ceremony, the islander paid tribute to his late father, who passed away three years ago due to cancer. 

He shared a touching childhood memory, recalling how his father when he was just nine years old, had predicted his Grammy triumph. Thomas also expressed his gratitude to his manager, family members, and friends.

USVI Governor applauds Thomas 

USVI Governor Albert Bryan Jr. took to social media to applaud Theron Thomas for his outstanding achievement.

Before his Grammy win, USVI, under the leadership of Commissioner Joseph Boschulte of the Department of Tourism, organized a jubilant celebration in Los Angeles on February 2 to commemorate Thomas' Grammy nomination. 

Commissioner Boschulte praised Thomas for representing not only his home island but the entire territory, emphasizing his remarkable contributions as an artist, producer, and songwriter.
