In a proactive move aimed at bolstering security cooperation and regional collaboration, the U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) is set to engage in flight operations alongside the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) on Thursday.

Fostering stronger partnerships

The U.S. Embassy in Georgetown shared in a statement that the exercise signifies a pivotal step in advancing security partnerships between the United States and Guyana.

It also serves as a testament to the enduring commitment of both nations to promote regional security and cooperation.

Beyond flight operations

The collaborative effort extends beyond flight operations.

According to the statement, the USSOUTHCOM is dedicated to collaborating with the GDF across multiple domains, including disaster preparedness, aerial and maritime security, as well as countering transnational criminal organizations.

The U.S. Embassy emphasized that the United States remains firmly committed to Guyana and the broader objective of fostering regional security and cooperation.
