The University Singers, the premier performing choir of UWI’s Mona Campus, are recognized throughout the Caribbean and internationally for their vocal performances, which blend classical works, gospel, spirituals, Caribbean folk songs, contemporary arrangements and Jamaican cultural selections.
For decades, the ensemble has served as a cultural ambassador for the Caribbean, promoting the region’s artistic traditions through performances and educational initiatives.
The group’s Florida debut represents a significant moment for South Florida’s Caribbean community, which includes a large Jamaican and wider Caribbean diaspora.
“This is a unique opportunity for South Florida audiences to witness one of the Caribbean’s finest musical ensembles,” Edwards said. “The University Singers have earned an international reputation for excellence, and we are proud to welcome them to Miramar for their Florida Cultural Exchange performances. These concerts will be inspiring, uplifting and memorable for all who attend.”
Organizers are encouraging attendees to purchase tickets early, as only two performances are scheduled.
Tickets are available through the Miramar Cultural Center website and box office.
The University Singers were established as the flagship choir of UWI Mona and have built a reputation for preserving and promoting Caribbean musical traditions while showcasing the region’s artistic talent on international stages.
