United Airlines to commence scheduled service to Guyana in April 2024

United Airlines, a prominent US-based carrier, has recently unveiled its plans to introduce scheduled services to Guyana starting in April 2024.

Connecting two key cities

In an announcement posted on its official website, United Airlines confirmed its intent to inaugurate scheduled services between Houston, Texas, and Georgetown, Guyana, commencing from April 1, 2024.

Direct flights for enhanced convenience

To facilitate seamless travel, United Airlines is set to initiate operations with four direct flights per week.

These flights will be operated using the Boeing 737-MAX 8 aircraft.

Expanding the Houston hub

United Airlines boasts a robust network of nonstop flights to over 160 destinations departing from Houston.

The addition of the new Guyana route underscores the airline’s commitment to expanding its presence in the South American and Caribbean regions, providing passengers with an even wider range of travel choices.

Long-awaited expansion

United Airlines has been exploring the possibility of serving the Guyana market since 2018.

During that time, the former US Ambassador to Guyana, Perry Halloway, had hinted at the carrier’s interest in this burgeoning market.

The subsequent boom in the oil and gas industry in Guyana has further fueled the demand for reliable air travel between Texas and Guyana, attracting the attention of multiple airlines.

A global aviation giant

United Airlines, ranked as the world’s third-largest airline based on revenue, is headquartered in Chicago, USA.

With an extensive fleet exceeding 760 aircraft, the airline maintains a substantial presence in more than 300 destinations worldwide.
