Unbeaten Jamaica crush T&T, inches closer to women’s T20 title

In a display of dominance, unbeaten Jamaica moved closer to clinching the Women's T20 Blaze title and a potential double in the tournament after thrashing closest rivals Trinidad and Tobago by eight wickets in the first game of a triple-header in St Kitts on Saturday.

Entering the match on the back of three successive victories, Jamaica, the recently crowned Super50 Cup champions, showcased their prowess by restricting Trinidad and Tobago to 98 for eight off their 20 overs before comfortably chasing down the target with 17 balls to spare.

Natasha McLean led the charge for Jamaica's run chase, smashing 41 runs from 34 balls with eight boundaries, while receiving valuable support from West Indies teammates Rashada Williams (29) and Chedean Nation (21 not out).

With this victory, Jamaica extended their lead in the tournament standings, now sitting on 17 points, four clear of Trinidad and Tobago and the Leeward Islands, both on nine points.

Trinidad and Tobago, sent in to bat at Warner Park, were anchored by a valiant unbeaten 44 from captain and opener Britney Cooper. However, lack of support from the rest of the batting line-up led to their downfall, with only one other player reaching double figures.

Jamaica's bowling attack was led by off-spinner Vanessa Watts, who claimed three wickets for 10 runs, supported by seamer Chinelle Henry (2-19) and off-spinner Stafanie Taylor (2-31) who both grabbed two wickets each.

In response, Jamaica's dominance continued as McLean's explosive batting laid the foundation for victory, forming crucial partnerships with Williams and Nation to secure a convincing win over Trinidad and Tobago.
