Trinidad and Tobago’s senior men’s national football team will continue its preparations for upcoming international assignments with a historic friendly against Louisville City FC on July 25.

The “Soca Warriors” will face the United Soccer League Championship side at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky, as the national program continues building momentum ahead of future Concacaf competitions and the FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. local time.

The encounter represents a significant occasion for Louisville City, as the club prepares to host a senior men’s national team opponent for the first time in its history.

Louisville welcomes a taste of international football

The match will bring together two teams from different levels of the game but with a shared goal of growth and development.

Louisville City FC president James O’Connor described the fixture as an opportunity for supporters to experience the international side of football during a summer when global attention will be focused on the United States as a co-host of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“With the 2026 FIFA World Cup being partially hosted in the United States, American sports fans will be fully immersed in international soccer this summer,” O’Connor said.

“We’re thrilled to bring Louisville City fans a taste of the international game with this historic friendly between our club and the Trinidad and Tobago national team.”

Warriors continue building toward bigger goals

For Trinidad and Tobago, the match is another important step in preparation under head coach Derek King.

The national team is using every opportunity to improve its rhythm, strengthen squad connections, and measure itself against different styles of opposition before the next wave of competitive fixtures.

King welcomed the challenge and emphasized the importance of facing quality opponents.

“We welcome every opportunity to test ourselves against solid opposition as we continue building this team,” he said.

“Matches like these allow us to expose our players to different styles of play, strengthen our chemistry and continue our preparations for the challenges ahead. We are looking forward to this and would like to thank Louisville for hosting us.”

A nation with World Cup history

Trinidad and Tobago remains part of an exclusive group of Concacaf nations to have reached football’s biggest stage, with its historic FIFA World Cup appearance coming at Germany 2006.

The country, a FIFA member since 1964, has produced several internationally recognized players, including Dwight Yorke and Shaka Hislop.

That history continues to inspire the current generation as the Warriors pursue another opportunity to compete among the region’s best.

The national team squad for the Louisville fixture is expected to be announced closer to match day.

With every training session and international test carrying added importance, the Warriors will view the Kentucky trip as another chance to refine their identity and prepare for the challenges ahead.

The July meeting promises more than a friendly, it offers another chapter in Trinidad and Tobago’s continued journey toward international relevance.
